The Coalition

Franklin Pierce YOUTH FIRST (FPYF) coalition focuses on youth risk prevention, working together to bring community resources and partnerships together to ensure youth have opportunities, support and every chance to succeed. FPYF’s prevention efforts span many risky behaviors including both substance abuse and youth violence. FPYF strives to make connections in the community that facilitate increased prevention, interventions and family support as well as local community connections and local resources.

The Coalition meets on every third Friday of the month (except July & December) at 12pm-1:30pm. See calendar for more events.

The Franklin Pierce Youth First Coalition (Youth First) serves the geographic catchment area of the Franklin Pierce School District (FPSD), near Tacoma Washington, and lies predominantly in the 98444, 98445 and 98446 zip code areas. It is entirely in unincorporated Pierce County and encompasses the Parkland, Summit, and Midland communities. The U.S. Census Bureau indicates the area is urban, yet in reality it is a suburban community with no town center, no governing town council, no major industry, and a highly transient population. The community could best be described as rapidly changing, not only in its demographics, but also in its socioeconomic status, rates of problem behavior, and lack of local laws.
